Logo Design for KAMCO, Housing Development Company
KAMCO housing's mission is to develop, repurpose and remodel housing providing advanced property management practices to ensure safe, clean, and affordable housing for individuals and families with no or low income as defined by the state of California income guidelines.
A logo was required for the company that would capture the essence of what lies beneath the buildings' structures and give a professional corporate feel, sympathy, and inspiration.
About KAMCO Housing
KAMCO housing's process and goal is to create community infrastructure by acquiring, renovating, and revitalizing unused spaces and by developing new structures and facilities. It works in partnership with public and private sector investors to address pressing community needs. Alongside its place-making and property management work, KAMCO housing also serves as a think tank and convener on policy matters relating to community infrastructure in California and beyond. It undertakes original policy-relevant research and produces and disseminates new knowledge in the form of Op-Eds and special reports on the potential and necessity of investing in CI in the decades ahead.
Designing the Logo for KAMCO Housing
To help design identity, the company's CEO and her team were looking for a logo that represents the ultimate goal: sympathy and creating community infrastructure.
Although, at first, the symbol may appear to be merely several stylized house roofs, there's a hidden message. Look closely at the shape at the top and the bottom; it shows a simplified silhouette of two hands holding. Combined the shapes form house roofs and hands, while also communicating the key message for the business, 'develop, repurpose and remodel housing providing advanced property management practices to ensure a safe, clean, and affordable housing for individuals and families with no or low income.'
